Satellite Camps - The History of the Satellite Camps of the Sachsenhausen - Concentration Camp in Berlin

The project aims at developing a smartphone-app on the history of the satellite camps of the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Berlin.

It focuses on the concentration satellite camps which were built in the whole city area of Berlin in 1942 and in the course of the year 1944 by the “SS”. Such satellite camps extended the system of concentration camps into industrial and residential areas of many Berliners. At no other time, so many concentration camp prisoners were visible in the daily life of the city.

The smartphone application will tell the story of the satellite camps based on six examples, completed with texts, photos, biographies, excerpts from newspaper interviews and further material. The daily routine in the camp will be in the center of attention, as well as the point of view of the prisoners forced to hard labor.

The satellite camps app will come out in January 2019.
